In continuation of my previous write-up, “When Is It Rightly the Word of God or Sorcery? (I)”, I will continue as follows, ergo:
Just as earlier on said, the coming of Jesus turned the tables and pattern of operation changed too.
All things God did, he did by the instrumentality of His Word, Jesus Christ.Casting back right from creation, till this very moment. Although his word is not the only instrument by which he speaks and communicates his counsel, yet it is the basic and the premise by which accurate balance and discernment is achieved.
God is in the realm of eternity, while we humans are in time. Living in time, on earth and in mortality also is accompanied with great limitation to the limitless abilities man inherently had.
When God is set to do a thing on the earth surface, he is constrained by time, space and availability of yielded and prepared vessels. These two variables (time and space) do not hold sway in the spirit, rather seasons do.
In a bid to me most effective, perfectly fitted and yield optimally, a vessel needs to be forged and fabricated by the word, since the word is God’s instrument of creation, therefore, an alliance and truce with the word is our only bet.
The level to which we will be important and be of service to the Kingdom is determined by how acquainted we are with the word.
We are not slaves, we are better than that (Luke 12: 4, John 15: 14, 15).
The relationship between believers and God in the person of Jesus Christ is not that of a slave and a master. We are brothers with Jesus Christ, He called us friends; God himself called us his heirs and co-heirs with Christ (Gal. 4: 5-7).
If we must align as partners in ensuring that God’s enemies are made his footstool by the working of His spirit in us (Psalm 110), then we must understand where he has set out from, where he presently is in plan, and where he is intended to end. If we do this, we will have a better comprehension and consequently be able to fit in securely into his plans. Only then can we be useful and yield optimally.
Only judicious and conspicuous following of God’s words make us fit in and have optimum result, other means are simply Manipulation.
God created Adam and he was a mature man, he never went through the process of growth, he didn’t grow into maturity, so although he was physically mature, he was young and a juvenile at heart. Courtesy of this, it was easy for him to fall. The word of God says; “let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom,; teaching and admonishing one another in psalm and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Col. 3: 16).
Scripture also has this to say: “12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil” (Heb. 5: 12-14).
It is glaring that dwelling with the word of God and dwelling in the presence of his Spirit, understanding the word and its use consequently yields to maturity.
“15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Tim. 2: 15.
If there is no studying, then there is no showing forth of a man that is approved unto God, sustaining the ability to rightly divide the word of truth.
On a slight contrast, the man Jesus who was the second Adam was born into time, he grew into maturity. He was the son of God, but had to confine himself to nature’s laws. Luke 2: 52 says; “And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” Knowledge brings one under authority therefore, Jesus was able to reply the devil when he was tempted. Matthew 4.
Once again, maturity takes times of dwelling in God’s word and it’s a process. The Lord Jesus learnt obedience by the things He suffered.
This is consistent all through scripture. Enoch went through process; he walked with God and walking is process itself, Moses while in the wilderness in Haran and he also learnt a lot from his father in-law Jethro, Samuel went through process under Eli. David also under God while in the wilderness, and also due to his close relationship with the prophet Samuel. Elisha under Elijah, Paul, our Lord Jesus Christ, the twelve apostles and even the Christians in the early church still went through some form of process. This shows that our God is given to process, as well as his word is also in procession. Being void of process will result to the creation of an amorphous creation, one that lacks backing and consequently authority.
Anything divine that is short of process and yet provides result is Manipulation and by extension, Sorcery.
Before the materialization of spiritual realities, there is a time span of waiting (irrespective of how long or short one has to wait). During that period of waiting, the potential recipient undergoes making, where he is tried, tested and forged.
For instance, usually when a believer asks God for money, he is firstly subjected to a process of making and heart checks so that when the money comes, it will not constitute an idol. This process however is for the matured.
The bible says we should let patience complete its work in us. “4But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing” (James 1: 4).
Hear also what the bible says “11 that ye be not slothful, but followers of them who through faith and patience inherit the promise” (Heb. 6: 12).
In the book of Matthew chapter 7 verse 7 and 8, Gods word tells us to ask and we shall receive, seek and we shall find, and to knock and the door shall be opened unto us. We were further told, “…………….for any one that asketh, receiveth……………”. The word “asketh” in the contemporary sense is “asks” connotes the ‘present continuous’. This means there are times we ask, and stay put in the process of asking before the materialization of what we asked for.
Although the bible says that before we pray, he knows our needs, and while we are still praying, he’s already answered, however, within the time of asking and the time of visible and tangible receiving, there is definitely a time of waiting and our heart posture is very important to God as this proofs our maturity. This is the process that is consistent in the dealings of God.
Faith that is not tried cannot be trusted.
See what the word of God further says. “22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law” (Gal 5:22-23).
Notice longsuffering, meekness and temperance.
The devil on the other hand never plays the game by the rules, the mortal man by default does not have the ability to be patient and wait on God, so the devil takes advantage of this infirmity and gives man what he believes he needs at man’s desired time. This has consistently been his pattern. He is void of process.
When God sought to express himself, he took time and subjected man to process, dealing with generations and generations. Starting from father Abraham, to Isaac, Jacob, the Israelites, down till their pilgrimage in Egypt, voyage in the wilderness and then being settled in Canaan the land of promise. That was not the end however, he proceeded to the era and dispensation of Judges, Kings, prophets, and finally he expressed his son, after which he gave us his precious Holy Spirit. He needed man to gradually come to terms with his incapacitation and insufficiency, and how he does not in any way possess what it takes to reach God. This was with the intent that consequently when grace arrives on the scene, He/it may be appreciated, for grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
If God is not given to process, why did he not just give the Holy Spirit to the Israelites while they were in Egypt?
God’s expression of himself in His word is also process oriented. The potency of the word is predicated upon its proper comprehension of its pattern of unfolding. If God is presented to the people and there is no process involved, that is simply boycotting the order. Its manipulation and by extension sorcery. This explains the reason why the daily experience literally flout what Hebrew 12: 4 says: “12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”
The above quotes scripture may seem to counter all that is been said, however, if a careful review is done on the preceding verses of that chapter, it will be seen vividly that before every rest, there is first of all a working and a labouring. This does not mean that man was born to labour all his life.
God worked for six days and then he rested. Here we are made to understand that ‘word’ mixed with ‘faith’ is what delivers result and faith without word is dead. Work is process.
Many keep believing and never get to see the manifestation of what they believe. Does that mean what they believe isn’t true? No, it’s simply because they believe wrongly, the proper order and process the word of God follows isn’t understood and therefore cannot be followed. God is king and we will be wise to understand his modus operandi and yield. We are not our own creation, neither are we amorphous. There is the template and an original manuscript. Swimming against the tide is always a futile fete.
