The church, ecclesia is a system (in that is has constituent parts that function interdependently to achieve a single aim and goal which is of benefit to the head and owner) and has a definite structure. It is an organization as well as a body.
It is a common saying that a flock of sheep led by a lion will defeat a pride of lions led by a sheep. This is because, the head (leader) understands structure, strategy and is not void of wisdom and skills so irrespective of what constitute his cargoes, he is by default placed in a position of advantage compared to its adversary, which is made up of strong colossuses yet lack administrative prowess, strategy, focus and vision, therefore, the end was defeat, It’s offensive confrontation was a null fete.
In ancient times, during war and conquests, the norm is that once a people, territory or nation was conquered, It survivors are immediately captured, transported out of the native land and made slaves, their generation will be born into servitude if nothing is done to salvage the situation, its wealth and treasure is plundered and looted, and they virtually have no say or influence over their own lives. They have neither rights nor freedom.
In a bid by the captors to ensure that their captives never recover well enough from the plunder and ever envisage returning, the captors usually use any and every means possible to ensure absolute commitment and loyalty, either pleasant or unpleasant. Ranging from concessions to force labor, ignition of strife, division and emulations, seditions, seduction by material things and provision of basics, to brutal and cruel treatment with the intent to crush the soul of the victim. Forceful or deceptive indoctrination may also be employed.
This has been the norm all through history, in the rise and fall of all kingdoms and empires and is exemplified all through the old testament as we see several times the Israelites were allowed into slavery by Jehovah.
This is exactly the job of The Church, The Ecclesia.
It happened that the word “Church” as written in the original scripts (in Greek) is written “Ecclesia” and the most appropriate interpretation is assembly. (if in doubt, kindly run a personal research on this)
It refers to a set of people called forth, redeemed and brought into the light of the realities of God, submit under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, understand Kingdom and its modus operandi, then sent and commissioned as emissaries back into the system they were previously called from, with the aim that they infiltrate into the system, win spirits over, and come out unadulterated, undaunted and undefiled. For we have been called and made separate, and translated from the kingdom of darkness, into the kingdom of His dear son. He (God) also has made us kings and priests unto our God.
Ours however has nothing to do with force, cruel, brutal treatment and subjugation. On the contrary, it’s a willing reciprocation of the love of God that was shown on the cross, firstly from God to the sinner, and eventually vice versa.
We however do indoctrination and it is not denominational, rather it is kingdom. An undoing of the ideologies of the world system, and imputing the very word of God by which every man ought to live by on a daily basis.
The church or Assembly rather, is not a group of people meeting every agreed day(s), and doing the usual. NO, on the contrary, it is a breed of people with the new life, the very life of God, who know and understand that it’s a kingdom affair. It’s all about territorial capture and expanse, enforcing the mandate, statutes and will of God, bringing every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.
Thoughts must be brought captive because these are what form, frame and determine our actions, creeds, ideologies and belief system and most people are willing to die for what they believe. In fact it is often said that if you do not have something worth dying for, then you are not worth living.
Courtesy of this, we are emissaries, with a kingdom mandate to uproot and plant, to destroy and build. Just as Jesus said, whatever has not been planted by my father, I shall uproot. We have been given the same mandate.
The earth is the Lord’s and its fullness there off. This is undeniable and undisputable; however, its reality is in doubt because the sons of God, God’s literal extension and ambassadors are the major determinants of that.
We are the church of Christ; we are the foundation and pillar of truth. We are not called to be like Jesus Christ; rather we are called to be Jesus Christ on earth. Called to be Jesus Christ in that everything He ever did, we are expected to do likewise and even much more.
If we have faith in the words of Jesus, then this must be proven by commensurate action on our own path, works is what it’s called.
James while speaking on the subject of faith, said that faith without works is dead. He further said, show me your faith without works and I will show you my faith with works.
For everything we believe in, there must first be a revelation, an acceptance of the revelation, it’s diffusion into our spirit to form a conviction, solidifying and crystallizing thereby forming reality and this comes with a deliberate action on our path.
Knowledge is very important and indispensible especially in this day and time we are in.
Jesus spoke about the church he intends to build and he said that the gates of hell shall not prevail over it.
Thus says the bible:
When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? 14 And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. 15 He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am? 16 And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. 17 And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven. 18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. (Matt. 16: 13-19)
…………and the gates of hell shall not prevail……………, this seems like an indestructible body. Invariably, Jesus is telling us that what he is abound to establish is one that is absolutely immune to all forms of assault, in fact, it is the one that will assault and never experience any form of casualty or defeat.
An unbiased and honest survey on the chrch on a general note tells us otherwise. The present light and illumination the world is receiving from the church is not enough, as a matter of fact, it is way below the threshold and expected standard of its owner.
Notice my emphasis, “on a general note”.
Most believers experience defeat on a daily basis, even though they profess what they believe is written in the bible. Others who have successes sometimes seem to have been battered first, with wounds and scares. I believe this is not the good, perfect and acceptable will of God for our lives.
However, there are still others who live and soar as though the devil does not exist.
The greatest of crocodiles cannot fight the least of birds, simply because the bird can fly while the crocodile cannot. They do not operate on the same plain, they are not contemporaries and cannot be juxtaposed, and they are not “mates”.
Believers are born to soar. The word of God says, they that wait upon the Lord, they shall God renew their strength, they shall soar.
Great elect of God, I beseech you, Please, Do Not Walk; When You Were Born to Soar.
After the baptism of Jesus when the Holy Spirit had descended on him, he was led into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. He fasted and returned. After which His teaching ministry began (this is according to Matthew).
He taught from chapter 5 of the book of Matthew, through 6 to 7. This was his conclusion after his first teaching session.
24Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: 25 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. 26 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: 27 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. 28 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: 29 For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
One sensible question to be asked is ……….are houses normally built on rocks?
The answer is No.
In that case, what then is Jesus talking about?
For one’s life to be invincible and not destructive to the vagaries of life and the daily assault from darkness, such a person must build his life and have it hinged on something equally invincible; build and have hinged upon God via his word.
Even though cooperate strength is good, more importantly we ought to build ourselves individually.
We must be invincible both individually and corporately and there is a roadmap to attaining that status of invincibility, where we live on a daily basis, doing kingdom business and enjoying life as though the devil and his cohorts do not exist.
Primarily, observe that Jesus had been teaching, all the while, stretching across three good chapters. He even called his audience to a higher plain. This therefore means that the place and priority that the word of God must occupy in our lives must be the zenith and pinnacle, most influential and determinant of our actions and inactions. This status is and should not be disputed, argued or compromised.
One unwise thing people do is trying to make God’s word relative and other words from fallible sources absolute; the Truth is the Truth and not a jot of it will fall to the ground.
This is real wisdom: Make the word of God the absolute, and every other word relative. (Kindly note that I said The Truth not a truth, cheers)
Also, if we quest for the truth that will last beyond the span of time, then we must know that the stakes are higher, unlike the norm and there is a cost, coming up higher is the cost many are not willing to pay, they’d rather be complacent and lackadaisical. This can be gathered from Matthew 7: 25-29.
People of the underworld and demon spirits pay far higher prices to get far less. These are spiritual principles that if we ignore, it’s to our own detriment.
Next: it is important to observe in Matt. 16: 13-19 that it was not just words that Peter received because Jesus himself attested that it was a revelation and it came from God, his father. I’d like to also buttress that beyond the head knowledge, contend to have the revelatory word of God. Head knowledge will not profit us much, but the revealed word of God is the ultimate. Revelation is far superior to head knowledge.
Nothing responds to just casual words, that’s why in the spiritual warfare of life, your education counts for nothing, in fact, it could aid your defeat. Selah!
Many who have missed it may have this head knowledge without revelation and sometimes, use it to argue when attempts are made to bring them back to God, but someone who has the revelation of God’s love and grace cannot fall off, one who knows and understand how the kingdom works will never judge God unfaithful. Such a man is never moved come what may. That’s an invincible fellow, a colossus.
Jesus said to Peter, flesh and blood has not revealed this to you; thou are Peter, and upon this rock shall I build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail.
Peter is not the rock spoken of even though that’s what his name means. Rather, the revelation of Jesus Christ the Son of God is the ROCK.
Matt. 7: 25 down makes it clear to us that after we have listened to the truth of God’s word, and do as we’ve been commanded and admonished, then we will be like a house that is invincible, one that will withstand tempest, storm and flood. The foundation of the house likened to here is a rock. This was the first time Jesus spoke about building and mentioned rock as the foundation or ground upon which the structure is going to be built, he never pointed to Peter even though he was there.
An eternal and divine project cannot be founded upon something that is time based, mortal and earthly. Peter was human and could not pioneer something eternal. He was born in time unlike Jesus who was born into time.
Jesus Christ was the foundation and that is why it is The Church of Christ, that was what he died for, he also purified her and adorned her as his bride. Therefore, Peter could Never be the foundation upon which the Church is built.
If we must be that church, assembly, called out, ecclesia that we were called to be and if we must be indestructible and invincible, suffering no casualty, affliction nor defeat but rather conquering and ever increasing, then our lives must be premised upon the word of God, the revelation of Jesus Christ The Son Of God, otherwise, a life of perpetual defeat will be the average description of our everyday life.
Moreover, hear what 1 Cor. 10: 4 says.
And all did drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.
There is no Rock outside Jesus Christ.
Jesus is the Ultimate.
Therefore, Is the church invincible?
Yes it is, if only its solidly built on the word of God and founded upon the revelation of Jesus Christ The Son Of God.
