Freedom is the ability to act freely, a state in which an individual is able to act and live as he or she chooses, without being a subject to any undue restraints or restrictions. Release or rescue from being physically bond or from being confined, enslaved, captured or imprisoned.
The key to absolute freedom is knowledge; ignorance on the other hand empowers unjust servitude and oppression. The infallible word of God tells us that when we have knowledge of the truth, the resultant of this truth is absolute freedom, a release of the learned into a hitch free life without conformity.
Every living thing, plant and animal alike desire a hitch free operation and lifestyle, ability to live without any form of unwanted influence. It is the desire of every human being to freely express his or herself as desired, live without being instructed or dictated unnecessarily.
Live is beyond the physical; what is seen and felt with the five senses. There is a higher plain and a deeper perspective, a realm from whence everything visible and tangible to these five senses precipitates from. Ergo, it is wiser, safer, more guaranteed and more encompassing to view and understand things from that perspective and vista, as this gives us a fuller scope, better comprehension and an advantage.
When bondage is intended to be afflicted on anyone, orchestrations are firstly initiated, and once conclusively strategized; its inevitable resultant effect is felt in full weight. More often than not, these orchestrations are proposed and plotted spiritually and are best intercepted and annulled the same way they were initiated, i.e. spiritually.
Jesus paid the price for our sins, washed and redeemed us with his blood, and made us vessels fit for the master’s use. Our salvation is a function of God’s sovereign grace, not the ability of man. The proof and seal of our redemption is the presence and residence of the Holy Spirit upon and in us (Eph. 1: 13), to the intent that by our conscientious and willing response and obedience, we shall redeem creation from its present servitude and repression even as such is the heartbeat of the father (Rom. 8: 19). We have been handed over the ministry of reconciliation, Jesus who intercedes for us as the high priest, commissioned the same charge to us. He died so that by his death, many more sons are reconciled back to God, and consequently, kingdom business becomes our priority. This agenda is firstly spiritual.
The bible says that worthy is the lamb that was slain even before the foundations of the world was laid (Rev. 5: 12), i.e. even before the rebellion of Lucifer in heaven, bible tells us Lucifer was flushed to earth (Rev. 12: 12), this means the earth was before that rebellion, and if the lamb was slain before the foundations was laid, this also means that long before the rebellion of Lucifer and later on the fall of man, Jesus as already been slain for us all, his slaying however came into a physical manifestation almost 4000 years after the fall. The truest and most accurate definition of The Higher Life is a life that dominated and influences in the spiritual, i.e. it superimposes its realities on the earth realm, rather than being subject to the spiritual and being at the mercy of its orchestrations.
Apostle Paul said that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God (2 Cor. 10: 4), this means that we might not need to physically carry guns, arrows, machetes, or even go as sophisticated as using missiles, nukes, nuclear or bio-weapons, rather we use spiritual weapons, that are mighty through God, and are so potent and used to pull down strongholds.
These solid explanations; the slain lamb of God, and the weapons of our warfare are proof that the spiritual aspect of life is the most vital and domineering and therefore should be attended too with a first degree priority.
Of all the weapons as described in the verses of scripture above, the only offensive tool is the sword, the sword of the spirit which is the word of God. Every other weapon is that of defense. This shows us the great importance and the indispensability of the word of God in the life of the average believer on a daily basis. The word of God already assures that …….the weapons of our warfare……, this means there is in warfare, and even though we fight from a victors’ point and plain, because we are seated with Christ in heavenly places far above principalities and powers, this however is a spiritual reality and needs a lot of work before its furnished and visible in all facets of our daily lives. It’s a spiritual warfare; therefore, the weapons must be spiritual.
The greatest problem of humanity is, trying to decipher and solve a spiritually orchestrated reality using the deplorable and pathetic contrivance of the flesh. Unfortunately, the flesh profits nothing.
Jesus speaking said, and you shall know the truth, and it shall set you free.
He didn’t not say “and we shall know the truth; and it shall set us free” just as the word of God says “your enemy, the devil roars around……… (1 Pet. 3: 8)” and not “our enemy” this therefore is indicative of the fact that these aspect of confrontations are quiet personal. It is undeniable that we draw strength one from another, even as God uses us as vessels to reach out to our fellow brothers and sisters in the faith, it is however undeniable that a number of lives battles are personal, i.e. peculiar and unique.
After the fall of Adam from glory, he became a man subject to mortality, be was under the liege of the devil. The earth and its modus operandi even as designed by God were under chaos, and was an epitomized quandary, an absolute mishmash. Man himself found himself in a quagmire. He was bound and ceased the ability to wrought out his own salvation. It was therefore very essential for Jesus, who is the way, the truth and the life to coma to the aid of humanity and creation at large.
Rev. 5 tells us that none was worthy, in heaven, on earth and beneath except the lamb of God, Jesus.
He came to give us life and life in its fullness.
Salvation is not all about receiving the life Jesus came to offer. I have mentioned in my previous piece “The Higher Life”, that we are never asked to give our lives to Jesus, the life we had was by default antagonistic to everything that is of God, rather, we are called to receive what Jesus has to offer, so that as this new life gains grounds in us, and continuous territorial expanse in us as a whole, the previous natural life will naturally choke to death, until our humanity is absolutely swallowed in divinity.
This salvation package contains more than just a new regenerated life, it has embedded in it, packages of good health, victory, success, prosperity, peace, power and lots more.
All good and perfect gifts come from God, the father of light (James 1: 17).
His divine power has given unto us, all things that pertain unto life and godliness. (2 Pet. 1: 3). It would be great to read further what the next few verses say.
I know the plans I have for you, of good and not of evil, to prosper you and to give you an expected end (Jer. 29: 11).
If you that are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father (Luke 11: 10-13).
All these verses proof to us that God ultimately desires good and not harm or mayhem to us, for all good things work together for our own good, we who love him and are called of God according to his purpose (Rom. 8: 28).
An inheritance is good, and the bible says, I comment you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to keep you and give you an inheritance in the saint (Acts 20: 32). With these scriptures, it’s explicit and unequivocally candid, that this salvation package is full of goodies.
A shallow survey however proofs this wrong. Why is there such disparity between what the infallible word of God (truth) says, and the experience of believers.
Knowledge it is,
Freedom from all that came upon man courtesy of the fall, sickness, oppression, sin, wickedness, insecurity, pandemonium, upheaval, poverty, disaster and lots more can only be attained when armed with the right knowledge of the truth.
A firm acquaintance with the word of God is basic, if a life of total freedom is desired.
Even though God never desires anyone to perish, however he also said my people perish for lack of knowledge……. (Hosea 4: 6).
The sword of the spirit, knowledge, is the only potent tool recommended and handed to us, in order to confront and bring captive, all things that are not in consonance, alignment and in synchrony with what the word of God says.
Jesus, who is the living word of God, tells us that our knowledge of the truth is the only key to freedom, the level to which he has diffused into us, and we into him will tell the level of freedom that will characterize our lives. Many times we say we have God in us, we have the knowledge of God, we have the Holy Spirit resident in us. There is however a difference between when you have something, and when that same thing has you. There is a wide disparity between when you have a spirit and when the spirit has you. When we have the Holy Spirit, to a large extent, we determine how we yield, so absolute yielding depends on us, but when we yield diligently, we hit a pinnacle where the Holy Spirit now has us, we do not possess him but rather he posses us.
God desires that we experience freedom and life within the crucible of the provisions of the scripture and from his vista, perspective and plain, rather than from our own myopic, lopsided, distorted and limited perspective. And for this to happen, we must know the truth, not just a mouth confession, or assumption, but rather, the revelatory truth of God’s word, founded upon his power and integrity. When we have this revelatory truths, continuous increase of it over time till we get to a crescendo where it now has us, the resultant effect is that by default, every natural, human and sensual aspect of an individual’s life will be submerged in divinity and be choked to death, thereby resulting to an unleashing into a life of absolute freedom in God. This happens to be the Fathers’ dream and vision for us who are most loved by him and who believe in him.
The scripture tells us a lot that is sustained in the heart of the good father as regard our lives in terms of health, provision, finances, career, purpose, relationships, marriage, parenting, diet, everyday life and so much more if only we will take out time and diligently search out scriptures and know for ourselves. 2 Peter 1:3-5 says, “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge.”
Notice the emphasis on knowledge in verse 5.
Remember, it is the truth that you know that will make you free, it is not going to necessarily set you free, because once your set free, you can be bound again, but when the working word makes you free, you are freedom personified, i.e. you have evolved into a being of substantial reality, and the best word that accurately describes you is the word “Freedom”, only the same word can undo such but we know that God is not a man that he should lie, nor the son of man that he should repent of his words (Num. 23: 19), and also we know that the gifting and callings of God are without repentance (Rom. 11: 29). This means it’s a once in a life and forever experience.
As we grow in life, both physical and spiritual, we pass stages of growth and development. This invariably means that truths, although basic and foundational, must be reached out to on a daily basis, if our victory must encompass every ramification of life and also maintained.
When this revelatory truths become a reality in us, courtesy of yielding circumspectly, it births a kind of knowledge called experiential knowledge, it is also a stature attained. Then one can boldly say like David as recorded in 1 Sam 17: 34- 37……… “34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: 35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. 36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. 37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.”
And also like the three Hebrew boys who said to the king in Dan. 3:16-18, “16 Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-nego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter. 17 If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.18 But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.”
Dan. 9: 2, Daniel learnt by books (knowledge) that the desolation of Israel was to last seventy years. Courtesy of this knowledge, he stood in the gap and Israel experienced emancipation.
Make it a duty to search scriptures today, understand what’s been given and made available at your beck and call, press into such reality unto every iota of it, word to word and letter to letter becomes the average description of your everyday life.
We have an inheritance in God, Paul said, I commend you to God and to the word of his truth that is able to keep you and give you an inheritance in the saint. Preservation and provision are both a function of a sound revelatory knowledge of what the word of God has said, remember that faith comes by hearing and hearing only the word of God, the same word he honors’ more than his name (Psalm 138: 2) and without this faith, it is impossible to please God, for whosoever comes to him must believe that he exist, and is a rewards of them that diligently seek him (Heb. 11: 6).
Diligently seek him today.
